Greenery

I have to say, all different shades of green are some of my favorite to wear on my nails. I feel like that’s a little weird. Is that weird? Who knows. Not me.

zoyatilda1.jpg

This is Zoya Tilda, a yellow-toned grass green creme. This is the exact shade of 2017’s Pantone Color of the Year, Greenery. Formula on this was great, two coats for opacity. I find this color very eye-catching and a lot of people noticed it. Definitely worth picking up.

nzlmarch2016

Next is Nine Zero Lacquer March 2016, a blue-toned green holo with scattered silver holo microglitter. This has a great formula, but like other polishes in this finish, it dries somewhat gritty and needs a coat of topcoat to smooth things out.

Blue Indies

There isn’t enough love and praise in the world for indie polishes and indie makers. They’re beautiful in ways that mainstream companies would never dare. And today we honor just three colors and companies that are doing us a great service.

Different Dimension Halley’s Comet is a dusty lavender with a gorgeous gold to purple shifting glass fleck shimmer and a killer formula. It was opaque in two coats. I’ve never seen anything like this before, and it has my heart. Sadly I don’t think this color is available anymore.

nwpchristy

NWP Classic Essentials Christy is an indigo blue with pink contrasting shimmer. This practically painted itself on and was opaque in one coat because it’s so pigmented. NWP Classic Essentials is a line of wearable, office-appropriate colors from Native War Paints.

Be still my heart. This is Nine Zero Lacquer February 2016, a periwinkle blue holo with scattered silver holo microglitter, which happens to be my favorite finish of holo. The formula on this was a little bit thick but still easy to work with. Two coats for opacity.

It is what it is

“I’m going to start updating consistently!” she said, before promptly disappearing for months. Oops.

I’ve actually been updating my Instagram this whole time because it’s easier for me. Writing posts for each manicure I was doing was just so exhausting because I was hit with The Depression fairly badly a few months back. But I’m doing okay now! You know, relatively.

I’m just going to put all of my manicures from the last few months together into maybe three or four posts over the next few days, and keep the descriptions basic and not ramble as I’m known to do.

nwpcealison1

Two coats of Native War Paints Classic Essentials Alison, a periwinkle grey with silver shimmer.  The formula and brush on this were fantastic, it basically painted itself on.

essievirsno1

Essie Virgin Snow, a periwinkle bordering on lavender, opaque in 2-3 coats depending on your application. This is probably one of my top ten favorite shades in my collection, and you guys seem to agree with me because this was my most popular post on Instagram ever!

cblttls

Two coats of Colors by Llarowe Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. This is a navy jelly with tiny silver microglitter. This is just about an exact dupe for the original Essie Starry Starry Night! Formula was easy to apply, although I did get those little tacky, stringy things on the tips of my nails that you sometimes get with jelly polishes.

zoyamer1

Two coats of Zoya Merida, a forest green packed with silver holographic flakies. Formula on this was excellent, as is typical of Zoya.

zoyayaraziv

My pointer, middle, and pinky fingers have two coats of Zoya Yara, while my ring finger has two coats Zoya Ziv. I thought Ziv would complement the gold shimmer in Yara, and I was right! I felt very chic in this mani.

I wore this manicure close to Valentine’s Day. This is Rainbow Honey Be Mine, topped with Rainbow Honey XOXO.

opimfmmshsl1

And this is what I actually wore on Valentine’s Day! I put down three thin coats of OPI Mimosas For Mr. And Mrs., and topped it with a glitter gradient of Sally Hansen Strobe Light, which I used on its own for an accent nail.

Good to be back. Stay tuned. ❤

Zoya Dream

I’ve had no time to paint my nails recently… I’m still wearing this mani! This happens so rarely. :O

zoyadream1

I finally got around to trying on Zoya Dream, a blue jelly base with scattered holographic flakies, and I’m so pleased with it. The holo is a little shy both in person and on camera, but it’s still a pretty color even without the holo effect. I’m wearing two coats here, but there were a couple of slightly lighter patches still visible—two thick coats or three thin coats should do you good with this one.

That’s all I’ve got today. Check back soon, though!

Fatal Vanilla Bean on my Jet

Welcome welcome welcome! You know the drill.

fffe1

I recently revisited an old favorite, Femme Fatale Falling Embers, which is almost entirely alliteration. Close, but no cigar. I love this color. Berry tones with strong copper shimmer and a sprinkling of holo microglitter? Sign me up. This polish is opaque in two to three coats, and dries gritty, so double up on your topcoat!

barvanbe1

Sweet mother of all things good I love this color. This is three coats of Barielle Vanilla Bean. This applied wonderfully and was generally just a joy to work with. I desperately need to pair this with Essie’s Mink Muffs and make a chocolate and vanilla mani!! haha.

opimpj1

Lastly, I have OPI My Private Jet. There are about a billion versions of this, and I’m not sure which version I have. It’s a charcoal base packed with brown shimmer and scattered holo. This was a chameleon, it looked different in every lighting! And it was opaque in one coat, which was nice. 😀

That’s all I’ve got for you today. Come back soon! ❤

Neon Egg Hunt

Y’all, I’m running out of titles for these things. Usually I’ll just string together words from the names of whatever polishes I have in these weird mish-mash swatch posts, but… I can only produce so much nonsense, y’know?

elljeh1

This beauty is Ellagee Jeweled Egg Hunt, a clear base packed with gold holo microglitter, and fuchsia and pink holo hexes. Two coats is probably fine for most people, and is what’s pictured in my swatch, but three coats would be needed to totally fill in the spots between  the glitters. This was a little thick, as is expected with dense glitter polishes, but I didn’t have any trouble painting it on. This was so sparkly and magnificent!

spyy1

Did I mention that these were taken during the tail-end of summer? haha. My swatch shows a white base with two coats of Salon Perfect Yowza Yellow on top. This thing is blinding! It’s a perfect highlighter yellow. This was my first time using a proper neon, so I can’t speak for how the formula compares to other neons—neons are known to be tricky to use. I had quite a bit of bubbling with this (a few hours after taking the swatch photos), but I think that was because of my application rather than the polish itself.

spcopag1

And this is Salon Perfect Copacabana Girl, also two coats over a white base. It’s a warm-toned hot pink neon with a subtle pink shimmer running through it. My poor camera never had a chance with this one. I enjoyed the hell out of the Salon Perfect neons this summer, they surprised me a lot.

That’s everything for now! Thanks for reading.

Who Are You?

I have a few miscellaneous swatches today!

cgdorwho

Where is the love for this polish? China Glaze Dorothy Who? is a silver metallic migroglitter suspended in a deep blue jelly. It seems like it could be an alternative to the 2015 re-release of Essie’s Starry Starry Night, as that one was tacky and hard to use by all accounts (on top of Essies being smaller and more expensive!). Dorothy’s formula was easy to work with, but maybe got a smidge tacky if you took too much time working with it. This is two coats.

ccaoa1

Ahh, mint green. Will I ever tire of it? Probably not. I’ve worn this before, but I just had to put Color Club Age of Aquarius on for a weekend at the lake. This is two coats.

ccaoanzlhatt

What’s spending a weekend in the sun without wearing any holo? I coated Age of Aquarius with Nine Zero Lacquer Holo All The Things!!, which is also making its return to this blog. This was a cute and fun combo.

And… I would say that’s all, but I still have a huge buffer of photos to get through. Again.  But that’s all for this post, in any case. Thanks for reading!
