Blue Indies

There isn’t enough love and praise in the world for indie polishes and indie makers. They’re beautiful in ways that mainstream companies would never dare. And today we honor just three colors and companies that are doing us a great service.

Different Dimension Halley’s Comet is a dusty lavender with a gorgeous gold to purple shifting glass fleck shimmer and a killer formula. It was opaque in two coats. I’ve never seen anything like this before, and it has my heart. Sadly I don’t think this color is available anymore.

NWP Classic Essentials Christy is an indigo blue with pink contrasting shimmer. This practically painted itself on and was opaque in one coat because it’s so pigmented. NWP Classic Essentials is a line of wearable, office-appropriate colors from Native War Paints.

Be still my heart. This is Nine Zero Lacquer February 2016, a periwinkle blue holo with scattered silver holo microglitter, which happens to be my favorite finish of holo. The formula on this was a little bit thick but still easy to work with. Two coats for opacity.

Fall, fall, fall

Hey everyone! Thanks for putting up with my silence. I’ve got a few fall colors for you today!

If you follow me on Instagram, then you’ve seen this beaut already. This is Different Dimension The Eagle Has Landed, a plum base with strong red-copper shimmer and scattered holo microglitter. This reached opacity in two coats and had a slightly thick but manageable formula. I got this to satisfy my lemming for OPI’s Peel Me A Gobi Grape (which I can only find online for $40—yikes!!), and did it ever deliver.

Next I have Julie G You-niverse, a gold-green-blue shifting metallic duochrome along the same vein as Zoya Aggie, OPI Just Spotted the Lizard, and the much sought-after Chanel Peridot. This is supposedly an exact dupe for the Chanel. Duochromes like this are generally sheer but build nicely; this was opaque in three coats. The formula on this was a little tricky—I started painting my pinky before the coats prior were totally dry, and you can see the unevenness that resulted. I adore this color and finish though.

Finally I have China Glaze Pearl Jammin’ from this year’s Rebel Collection for fall. It’s a pale dusty blue with an incredibly strong copper shimmer. This is so stunning; I usually hate how pearly finishes look on me, but this was absolutely ethereal and gorgeous in every light. I loved loved loved having this on my nails. It’s opaque in three coats and went on very easily.

Thanks for reading, come back soon. ❤

Moonbeam

Hey all! Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend! It’s finally nice and warm and sunny out, and I couldn’t be happier.  😀

This is an indie polish I was seriously drooling over before I got my hands on it. This is Different Dimension Moonbeam, a complex rose gold polish that I’m head over heels for.  Shown is two coats with a coat of Gelous and a thick coat of topcoat to smooth it out, since it dries gritty.

Moonbeam is hard to describe, and I didn’t see just how complex it was until I started to remove it. If I’m not mistaken, it’s got silver and “gold” (kind of a pale gold?) holographic microglitter suspended in a rosy pink base, with gold shimmer running throughout. The base dries down slightly smaller than the glitter, so it’s gritty but can be smoothed out with topcoat or Gelous.

I’m so in love with this. So in love.  Moonbeam and I are going on our honeymoon now. Talk to you all later! 😛
