Magic Rainbow Cake!

Happy birthday to meeeeee! 😀

I did my nails twice today, because rules are a human construct and I’m an anarchist.

Birthday cake!!! I used two of my favorite polishes for this mani, Spellbound Nails Upelkuchen for the cake batter base and the oh-so-yummy Essie Mink Muffs for the chocolate icing.

Then for the second mani, I started with a base of Boii Cosmetics Blindfolded. I’m pretty disappointed with this one, as the coppery-red shimmer that was so apparent in the photos on Boii’s website is hardly visible in this at all—I purchased this to satisfy my lemming for OPI Peel Me A Gobi Grape and I was left severely wanting. I might have gotten a bad bottle, and to be completely fair, I didn’t bother trying to return this for a refund. But its formula was flawless and it covered in one coat, so I’ll definitely give it due credit there!

Then I threw on one of my holy grail polishes, Nfu Oh 51. This is the ultimate in classic color-shifting pigments and flakies. Shown is one coat over Blindfolded.

Its color-shifting pigments and flakies go all the way from red, to gold, to green, to blue depending on the angle of the light. It’s always difficult to catch photographs of the shift! One day I’ll perfect my methods, haha.

I feel like you could franken this by combining Girly Bits Shift Happens, Girly Bits Thud!, and a purple jelly. Someone should try it!

That’s it for today! Thanks for swingin’ by. I’m gonna go have some real birthday cake now. 😀

Sugar n’ Spice n’ Confetti!

Hello, all! I hope everyone’s having a good holiday weekend. I’m trying to get through the buffer I’ve allowed to build up, yet again, so I’m posting two manis today. Exciting stuff. 😛

This is two coats of Spellbound Nails Sugar ‘n Spice, a crelly glitter mix. The base is white, and it has medium magenta circle glitters, smaller pink and aqua circle glitters, and purple and blue circle microglitters. Say that five times fast! This is a very cute, springy mix. This is the one of two crellies in my collection, the other being Upelkuchen, also by Spellbound Nails. I’m pleasantly surprised by both of these!

And this… blows my mind. Unfortunately, this brand is no longer sold, but you can still find them online. This is Confetti Cosmetics Glam’n Up, a veritable chameleon! To me, it looks like a magenta-purple packed with shimmer that shifts between magenta and cranberry red under different lighting.

I cannot deal with this color. I’ve already worn this polish under effects topcoats and they look amazing over this.

Look at that glow!! It’s dreamy. Sigh.

That’s it for now! Thank for reading. ❤

Cake!

Baby finally got her first crelly glitter mix!! It only took me one thousand years. It’s from Spellbound Nails, a new to me brand, and I’m so incredibly pleased with this polish!

This is Spellbound Nails Upelkuchen, and it looks like cake!!! Gosh! This immediately made me think of cake batter before I even knew its inspiration—Upelkuchen is from the Eat, Drink and be Alice duo, and is based off ‘upelkuchen,’ the ‘Eat Me’ cake. This polish is a mix of different sized red, green, blue, yellow, purple, and pink hex glitters in an off-white, cream-colored crelly base.

I thought I’d need three coats of this, since crelly glitter mixes need to have a semi-transparent base to let the glitter peek through. But nope! Two worked just fine for me. The base is just opaque enough, and the glitter just dense enough, that two coats covered completely. I’m so happy with the way this applied and looked! You will definitely be seeing this in a birthday cake-themed mani when my birthday rolls around in June. 😉

I’ve also purchased another crelly mix from Spellbound Nails which I plan to wear and take pictures of soon. Stay tuned!
