Virgin Snow

So, the OPI Soft Shades for 2016 are out, and… I don’t have any of them! Mostly because I don’t find the majority of them too thrilling, except for one of them, called I Am What I Amethyst. I had it in my hand and ready to purchase, when I realized that it’s really close to a polish that I’ve already got! So close, in fact, that I couldn’t justify both of them.

If you have Essie Virgin Snow from the Winter 2015 collection of the same name, then you’ve already got a dupe for I Am What I Amethyst. They are so, so close! I was able to hold them right beside each other at the store; Virgin Snow is just a smidge lighter, but they are different shades of the same hue of blurple.

Virgin Snow was opaque in two coats and had a flawless formula, which is kind of amazing coming from this light of a color by Essie. I’m in love with this. Like I know I say that a lot, but I really mean it this time. Wedding bells are going off, people.

I’m also trying out a new topcoat! I usually use Out the Door, but I decided to give Sally Hansen Miracle Gel topcoat a shot and I’m quite liking it. It’s very shiny, a little thin (it flooded my cuticles in this pic) but all newly-opened topcoat is like that in my experience and some use will get it easier to apply. I hope to see how well it performs over regular polish, as it’s supposed to be part of a two-step system for a gel-like manicure without the need for curing under a UV lamp.

Anyway! This was a post heavy on words and light on the pictures. Sorry about that!! haha. Thanks for reading. ❤
