Formula X Duochrome Swatchathon!

Have you ever gone into Sephora and spent half your paycheck on nail polish because you were too embarrassed to put anything back after the cashier rang up your total? Because I totally have! These are my ill-gotten spoils of the Formula X variety.

Also, you’ll have to pardon my photos all being taken in different settings! I just moved, and I’m still trying to figure out which part of my new home has the best lighting.

First we have Formula X Legend, a nearly black purple with violet to blue color shifting shimmer. I layered this over OPI Russian Navy, which was entirely unnecessary because of how packed with pigment Legend is.

This is the only Formula X polish I bought that belonged to their Shifters collection. I can’t speak for the rest of the collection, but Legend dried to a velvety semi-matte on its own. I put a coat of Gelous and Out the Door over it to be sure it was shiny and smooth.

I don’t remember smudging my ring finger. But I must have at some point. Oops.

Next we have Formula X Mischievous from their Ombre Glitters collection. It’s a duochrome glitter topper that shifts from pinky orange to a brassy gold.

This is two coats over Milani Color Statement Mauving Forward.

And finally there’s Formula X Devious, also from the Ombre Glitters collection, and my favorite of the bunch. The colors are hard to place—it shifts from frosty green to blue and has hints of gold, but it also tends to reflect whatever’s around it. I wore it over Zoya Ray.

The Ombre Glitters dry fairly gritty and definitely require Gelous along with a topcoat. But they dry quickly and are so, so pretty to look at.

I can’t praise these polishes enough!
