Mintspring!

A fun little factoid is that this blog was originally going to be called Mintspring rather than Honeyfalls. The reason for that is my love of a certain shade of green, between mint green and spring green, all inspired by the polish that I swatched here! It’s arguably the polish that got me into nail blogging in the first place when I saw it over on DizzyNails. 😀

Meet Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Perfect Pear-ing, an oh so perfect springy, minty, yummy green unlike any other mint green polishes I’ve seen before! It’s a bit brighter and more saturated than, say, OPI Gargantuan Green Grape or Maybelline Color Show Green With Envy, and it leans just a tad bit more lime.

It’s sort of like a jelly that you can layer to opacity like a creme. This was either two thick coats or three thin coats, and top coat.

Don’t you just love it?

A Festive Mess – Holiday manicure dump post

I’ve fallen so far behind on posting, and took a bunch of photos of the holiday-themed polishes I wore, so I’m just going to make one huge post with all of them! Then I should get back into the groove of things. 😀

First is my titular festive mess.

I’m sporting Zoya Red Door Red on my middle, ring and pinky fingers, and my thumb has China Glaze White On White (which I wear a lot! It’s my only white…). My index finger has one coat of Finger Paints Copy Cat, a sparkly silver shimmer with tiny and medium sized silver hex glitters. It’s pretty sheer on its own, so I usually layer this one over a metallic silver for full effect—in this case, Wet n’ Wild Metallica.

I didn’t really mind how silly this looked, hehe.

This is Marc Jacobs Sally Enamored underneath one coat of b.s.n. Nail Lacquer Angels. I thought the name for this was pretty appropriate for the season. 🙂

I was lucky to find OPI Ski Slope Sweetie in a clothing store. I picked it up immediately, and I’m surprised by the effect it has. It has gold shimmer, but looks frosty silver at the same time. This is one coat over a white under layer.

b.s.n. Nail Lacquer Midnight Marsh is a deep Kelly green that dries fully opaque and perfectly smooth in one coat. It dries semi-matte. This is one coat with no topcoat.

I added my trusty Nails Inc. Winter Mews for some gradient glitter, and some topcoat for a smooth finish. 😀

Are you ready for a brand you’ve probably not gotten the chance to encounter?

This is W.i.n Cosmetics #13. I’ve only ever seen this brand in one store and I can’t find it online anywhere. It eludes me. It’s a shame because their jellies are bangin’.

This is two coats with no topcoat. Look how flippin’ shiny and perfect this looks!!

GE

Of course, I couldn’t leave it alone—I gave it some frosted tips, because it’s that time of year, I suppose!

This is Nails Inc. Winter Mews from their Crushed Diamonds line.

I quite liked this mani. It didn’t wear well at all though—I had such bad tip wear by the end of the next day that I ended up removing it. Is it because jellies generally have bad wear time? I wouldn’t be surprised. I’ll be sure to try more jellies and more W.i.n, though.

Wearin’ some Winter Wondernails~

It’s December! That means that you and everybody you know are completely broke because we have all once again fallen prey to the ruthless capitalist machine that is the holiday shopping season. Whoo.

But it doesn’t have to be all sad! At least my nails are adorable.

… Probably not the best consolation, but you’ve gotta take what you can get!

Because it’s the most wonderful time of the year, I thought it was appropriate to slap on a winter-themed manicure!

This is a three-parter! Part one would be one thick coat of China Glaze White On White. Or two thin coats, whatever strikes your fancy!

Second comes Maybelline Color Show Crystal Disguise, a shimmer topper that I’ve used before.

GE

Third is a glitter topper that I’m in love with! It’s got iridescent mylar flakes in a clear base. Depending on the angle and what they’re layered over, they either look pink or blue. This is H&M Glitter Nail Polish 3D Glitter. Or, at least I think “3D Glitter” is the name of it. It doesn’t matter! I adore it so.

The final result is a fun but elegant wintery mani. It reminds me a lot of snow! My family used to have a tiny model Christmas village that you could throw fake snow over—I’m pretty sure that cottony mixture had mylar flakes just like this thrown in it, now that I think about it! I wore this glitter topper in another manicure recently. It looks a lot different if it’s worn over darker colors, so I wanted to include it in here so you guys could see all that 3D Glitter has to offer.

This time, it’s layered over Color Club Naughtycal Navy, which is a near-black navy blue. Even under normal circumstances, it’s hard to tell that this is, in fact, blue and not black. My camera isn’t the best, so I don’t think it captured that slight bit of navy at all. 😦

Either way, I adore this topper. I almost never use glitter toppers, but this is an exception I’m happy to make!
